Geschichte und Mission der Galerie

Magic Beans takes its name from the beloved children´s story “Jack and the Beanstalk,” which is full of symbols that we have translated to suit the meaning of our narrative. Using this story as a metaphor, our main goal is to support our artists by introducing them to prominent collectors and institutions, and to seek international opportunities for them so that they can continue to develop. We feel it is our responsibility to find artists we believe in and with whom we can develop long-lasting relationships.
Magic Beans was established in 2016 and focuses on contemporary painting, drawing, and sculpture from international emerging and established artists, such as Seungmo Park and the artist duo Abetz & Drescher. Magic Beans opened its doors in the well-known Auguststraße in the heart of Berlin in March 2016 with a diverse group exhibition featuring nine international contemporary artists. Since then, we have had twelve impressive and well-received exhibitions, and in 2017 we have participated in international art fairs such as Volta NYC, Mia Photo Fair (Milan), Volta Basel, and Contemporary Istanbul.
We are focused on building up a solid basis in the art world, and thus seek to establish constant and trustworthy partnerships, both with our artists and art fairs. We have been featured online by Artforum, Frieze, The Wall Street International, Berliner Zeitung, Interview Magazine, Art Observed, Berlin Art Link, Art Berlin, Art Magazine, Creator´s Project, Gallery Talk, The Culture Trip, No Mass Art Platform, Kunst Leben Berlin, Suitcase Magazine, and many more. Furthermore, our artists have also been featured in print publications such as art – Das Kunstmagazin, Sleek Magazine, Monopol, La Repubblica IT, GQ Magazine, Candid Magazine, Le Monde Diplomatique, Oxford American Magazine, Art@Berlin, Berliner Zeitung, Tagesspiegel and Artmaze magazine Additionally, Deutsche Welle, Kulturradio, and TV. Berlin have interviewed us. Beyond that, we have published an exhibition catalogue of Giuseppe Gonella´s show “Walking Home” (2016) and “Licht-Gestalten” (2017), featuring works of our represented artists —and we intend to continue with publications in the future.
Magic Beans ist nach der beliebten Kindergeschichte „Hans und die Bohnenranke“ benannt, eine Geschichte voller Symbole, die wir übersetzt haben, um sie der Bedeutung unseres Narrativs anzupassen. Mit dieser Geschichte als Metapher ist es unser Hauptziel, Künstler und Künstlerinnen zu unterstützen, indem wir sie mit prominenten Sammlern und Institutionen in Kontakt bringen und ihnen dabei behilflich sind, sich in einem internationalen Kontext weiterzuentwickeln. Wir sehen es als unsere Verantwortung an, Künstler und Künstlerinnen zu finden, an die wir glauben und mit denen wir langfristige Beziehungen aufbauen können.
Magic Beans wurde 2016 gegründet und legt seinen Schwerpunkt auf zeitgenössische Malerei, Zeichnungen und Skulpturen internationaler junger und etablierter Künstler und Künstlerinnen; hierzu gehören etwa Seungmo Park oder das Künstlerduo Abetz & Drescher. Magic Beans öffnete im März 2016 seine Türen in der bekannten Auguststraße im Herzen von Berlin Mitte, mit einer vielfältigen Gruppenausstellung von neun internationalen zeitgenössischen Künstlern und Künstlerinnen. Seitdem haben wir bereits zwölf beeindruckende Ausstellungen mit sehr guter Resonanz gezeigt und 2017 an verschiedenen internationalen Kunstmessen teilgenommen, darunter Volta NYC, Mia Photo Fair (Mailand), Volta Basel und Contemporary Istanbul.
Besonders wichtig ist uns eine nachhaltige, dauerhafte Verankerung in der Kunstwelt, daher bemühen wir uns um langfristige und vertrauensvolle Partnerschaften, sowohl mit unseren Künstlern und Künstlerinnen als auch mit Kunstmessen. Wir wurden online von Artforum, Frieze, The Wall Street International, Berliner Zeitung, Interview Magazine, Art Observed, Berlin Art Link, Art Berlin, Art Magazine, Creator´s Project, Gallery Talk, The Culture Trip, No Mass Art Platform, Kunst Leben Berlin, Suitcase Magazine und vielen anderen gefeatured. Darüber hinaus wurden unsere Künstlerinnen und Künstler in Printpublikationen wie art – Das Kunstmagazin, Sleek Magazine, Monopol, La Repubblica IT, GQ Magazine, Candid Magazine, Le Monde Diplomatique, Oxford American Magazine, Art@Berlin, Berliner Zeitung, Tagesspiegel und Artmaze vorgestellt. Auch wurden wir von Deutsche Welle, Kulturradio und TV.Berlin interviewt. Zudem haben wir einen Ausstellungskatalog zu Giuseppe Gonellas Schau „Walking Home“ (2016) publiziert, sowie „Licht-Gestalten“ (2017), in dem wir Arbeiten von uns vertretener Künstler und Künstlerinnen präsentieren. Auch in Zukunft planen wir weitere Publikationen.
